(FreedomBeacon.com)- Last week, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got hammered on social media for pretending to be led away in handcuffs from a pro-abortion protest.
The actress who plays a Congresswoman on TV, along with her fellow Squaddies, was “arrested” by Capitol Police and led away from a pro-abortion protest outside of the Supreme Court. And as she was being escorted out of the street, the phony placed her hands behind her back as if she was handcuffed.
Unfortunately, her desire for attention got the better of her, and the supposedly “handcuffed” Ocasio-Cortez couldn’t resist the temptation to lift a raised fist to her cheering supporters.
And she got hammered for it.
But because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez always makes an embarrassing situation worse for herself, she defended her staged stunt, claiming that she walked with her hands behind her back like she was handcuffed because that “is a best practice while detained.” She claimed she faked being handcuffed because it avoids “escalating charges like resisting arrest.”
Who does she think she’s kidding?
Police want suspects to keep their hands where they can see them. They only have a suspect put her hands behind her back if the suspect is being handcuffed.
And she wasn’t handcuffed.
It was reported over the weekend that the staged “arrest” stunt was funded by a left-wing group called “Center for Popular Democracy Action Fund,” a dark money group bankrolled by billionaire George Soros.
The plan was for Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow Squaddies to “submit themselves for arrest” while a film crew was on hand to capture the phony lawmakers as they were led away in cuffs.
Only they didn’t get arrested and led away in cuffs.
Instead, they were only escorted away from the protest and issued citations.
But since the optics were what mattered, Ocasio-Cortez and the others all placed their hands behind their backs for the cameras.
Ocasio-Cortez also claimed she was “arrested” and “charged.”
She wasn’t. She was placed under “non-custodial arrest,” issued a citation, then released.
But Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just can’t leave well enough alone. She is so tremendously thin-skinned that her reaction to any mockery is always to double down on the lie while making ludicrous excuses and then eventually playing the victim.
And last week’s phony “arrest” was no different.
When Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace mocked Ocasio-Cortez for her fake handcuffs, the Squaddie’s response to Mace was to play the “I’m a victim of sexual assault” card.
