Alaska Medical Board UNANIMOUSLY Declares – NO!

Alaska’s medical board just crushed the gender ideology machine, standing up for what conservatives have been saying all along – children shouldn’t be guinea pigs for irreversible gender experiments.

Medical Experts Say “Enough” to Child Gender Experimentation

In a refreshing outbreak of common sense, the Alaska State Medical Board has formally requested that the state legislature ban hormonal and surgical treatments for minors claiming gender dysphoria. The board, whose members were appointed by Republican Governor Mike Dunleavy, unanimously adopted a resolution urging lawmakers to place statutory limits on these controversial procedures. It’s about time medical professionals stood up to the radical gender ideology that’s been steamrolling through our institutions, putting vulnerable children in harm’s way in service of a political agenda.

According to the Alaska State Medical Board: “The Alaska State Medical Board opposes hormonal and surgical treatments for gender dysphoria in minors due to insufficient evidence of long-term benefits and risks of irreversible harm.”

This stance flies directly in the face of the left’s relentless campaign to normalize these irreversible procedures for children who are too young to get a tattoo or buy beer. The board’s decision shows that medical professionals, when allowed to speak freely without fear of the woke mob, recognize what parents have known all along – kids aren’t capable of making life-altering medical decisions that could leave them sterile, with altered voices, and irreversibly changed bodies before they’ve even finished puberty.

Political Roadblocks Prevent Child Protection

How is it possible that Alaska, a traditionally conservative state, remains one of the few states without legislative protections for minors against gender experimentation? The answer lies in the state’s bizarre political landscape. Despite Republicans technically holding a majority of seats in Alaska’s legislative chambers, they don’t actually control the legislature due to coalition politics. This dysfunction has created a legislative paralysis that leaves children vulnerable while politicians play games.

Even a 2024 bill introduced by Republican Rep. Jamie Allard to create civil liability for injuries resulting from gender transition procedures on minors failed to progress through the legislature. The medical board, frustrated by lawmakers’ inaction, finally took it upon themselves to investigate this issue. Dr. Matt Heilala of the board lamented the delay, saying, “It’s just an issue of bandwidth that we didn’t get to this more than a year ago.” Meanwhile, Alaska’s children remain at risk while adults fail to protect them.

Common Sense vs. Constitutional Quagmires

In a twist that perfectly illustrates the upside-down world of progressive politics, Alaska’s Medicaid program actually covers these controversial procedures for children following a 2021 class-action lawsuit. Your tax dollars at work, folks! Meanwhile, the Alaska Department of Law has declined to investigate other states’ actions on this issue, citing the board’s lack of regulatory authority. This bureaucratic mess is further complicated by Alaska Senator Löki Tobin’s assertion that any regulatory changes must not violate the state constitution’s right to privacy.

“True care means providing compassionate psychological support—not irreversible interventions that compromise their future”, says Alaska Rep. Jubilee Underwood.

Alaska Representative Jubilee Underwood cut through the nonsense with crystal clarity when she stated that “true care means providing compassionate psychological support—not irreversible interventions that compromise their future.”

The medical board agrees, recommending psychological support and counseling as appropriate alternatives to permanent physical alterations. This reasonable approach recognizes that most gender-confused youth eventually reconcile with their biological sex if given proper mental health support instead of being rushed onto a medical conveyor belt of hormones and surgery.

Will Alaska’s Legislature Finally Protect Children?

The medical board’s declaration that gender transition procedures lack legitimacy as standard medical practice is a bombshell in the ongoing national debate. Alaska’s libertarian approach to healthcare has typically allowed unconventional practices if there’s consent and no demonstrable harm. But the board has now officially recognized what many parents and conservatives have been saying for years – these procedures on minors cause harm and lack scientific support.

The question now is whether Alaska’s dysfunctional legislature will heed the advice of medical professionals or continue to cave to radical gender ideologues. With two board members awaiting legislative confirmation, their principled stand is especially noteworthy. Will Alaska finally join the 23 other states that have enacted protections for minors against these experimental procedures? Or will political paralysis continue to leave children vulnerable to irreversible damage in the name of progressive ideology?
