(FreedomBeacon.com)- Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz suggested that the FBI would be called in to investigate Monday night’s leak of a draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito.
Well, that’s one way to make sure the leaker doesn’t face any consequences.
When are people going to realize that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is a deeply partisan organization that shields the Left while targeting the Right?
You would have to be naïve to think this leaker will be treated as anything less than a hero.
Appearing on Newsmax this week, Dershowitz said the leaked draft of Justice Samuel Alito’s opinion on the Mississippi abortion case. He said he suspects the “very deliberate leak” came from a Supreme Court clerk who opposes reversing Roe v. Wade. The purpose of leaking the draft, he explained, was to put pressure on the Supreme Court.
He said the leak was “an act of civil disobedience” by a “determined law clerk” who thinks the seriousness of overturning Roe justified breaching the confidentiality of the court while risking his or her career.
Dershowitz also opined that the leaker will be lauded as a hero by the pro-abortion left. But the individual could possibly face federal charges or at the very least won’t be practicing law.
“The FBI is going to be called in,” Dershowitz said. He predicted that the feds will try to “break the journalist privileged” by demanding Politico reveal the source of the leak.
Is he serious with this?
Has Alan Dershowitz been in a coma for the last ten years?
In a statement on Tuesday, Chief Justice John Roberts said that he ordered the marshal of the Court to launch an investigation into the leak, calling it a “betrayal” designed to “undermine the integrity” of the Court.
Roberts also confirmed in a separate statement that the leaked draft was authentic, but noted that draft opinions are circulated internally “as a routine and essential part of the Court’s confidential deliberative work.”
He added that the draft document isn’t the decision by the Court or “the final position” of any Justice.
