(FreedomBeacon.com)- A 14-year-old girl was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the shooting and wounding of a 13-year-old boy in Washington DC on Monday.
According to DC Metropolitan Police, on Monday, the 14-year-old girl and a man had walked up to a boy who was reportedly waiting for a bus to school and the man shot him. Police received calls about the incident at around 4 pm and found the boy suffering from gunshot wounds.
While the 14-year-old suspect, whose name is being withheld due to her age, has been apprehended, the alleged shooter remains at large. The girl has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
According to police, the victim was shot twice, but his injuries were not life-threatening. He was taken to a nearby hospital to undergo surgery.
The boy’s mother told NBC Washington that her son, who is recovering from surgery, isn’t involved in “the streets.” “He’s just a good boy,” she said.
As of last Tuesday, police had no update on the shooter who is still at large. Currently, the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
